The Green Business Model is Here - Business Book Review
These days everyone wants to be a green entrepreneur. Everyone is talking about creating environmentally friendly companies, using alternative energy, and showing how we can use capitalism to make the world a better place. This is quite interesting, but in reality it's nothing new. People have been talking about these sorts of things for many decades. Luckily for them, it has permeated all industries of business, as well as the venture capital and investment banking realm. Why even the taxpayer has voted to have the government spend more money on alternative energy initiatives and fund green projects. If all this interests you and you'd like to know a little bit of history behind it, I'd like to recommend a book that's almost 2 decades old now. One I have on my business library shelves, and one that I think you should read. The name of the book is;"The Green Entrepreneur; Business Opportunities That Can Save the Earth and Make Money," by Gustav Berle, TAB Book Publishers, Inc., 1991, (200pp), ISBN: 978-080306-0600-9"Who are the polluters?" asks Berle in the very first chapter, and what are the alternatives? In the subsequent chapters he discusses other alternative sources of power such as; Solar, Wind, Geothermal, Biomass, Hydroelectricity, and nuclear. He also suggests that we need better recycling programs, although he admits that recycling alone will never be enough. He spends quite a bit of time talking about the Environmental Protection Agency, the federal Clean Water Act, and EPAs Federal Clean Air Act in the United States, as well as the EPA; Europe and China. He also suggests that eco-entrepreneurs can make the difference and cites some of the examples of things that are being done in Europe as the right approach such as Germany's four-day work week.Lastly, he speaks about helping Third World nations and emerging markets specifically feeding the world. Indeed, this was a very good book and it uses a free-market approach to solve the environmental problems of our day. I hope you will please consider this.
